Nico Luce Yoga Teacher Training Dubai

Vinyasa Asana Lab: Vinyasa yoga is about combining intelligent sequencing with creative transitions, fluid pacing and precise timing. We will explore all these aspects from different vinyasa lineages including classical Ashtanga, Power Vinyasa, Jivamukti, Anusara, Prana Flow and Forrest Yoga. We will also delve into general class structure; going over vinyasa krama (stages) so every student feels empowered to trust and listen to their bodies, creating a container for students to feel safe to explore emotions that may arise and how to conduct classes that are both fiery and cooling. Restorative poses and chill yin sequences will also be covered.

Anatomy of the Injured Yogi: As teachers we encounter many students who either come to class with injuries or get injured in class. We will go over common injuries such as neck, rotator cuff, lower back, knees, wrists and ankles. Information will be given on the most common ways these joints are injured, modifications for different needs and ways of helping rehabilitate.

Philosophical Journey to the East: We will read and discuss two key ancient masterpieces that reshaped spirituality in the eastern world, the Bhagavad Gita and the Tao Te Ching. [We recommend you read Stephen Mitchell’s translations of both texts. They need to be read prior to the training] These wisdom filled texts exemplify two radically different philosophical approaches to the same spiritual quest and are worth examining them today and contemplate their deeper teachings.

Subtle Body: Daily meditation, mantra and pranayama will be given at the start of each day along with discussion and practical application of these more subtle teachings.

Mini yoga class + feedback: Each teacher will have the option to lead a 30 min class based on the material covered in the program and will receive feedback (if they wish) from both Clara and Nico.

Why we Love a Core Strength Yoga and Pilates Fusion Session in Dubai!

Yogalates Bliss in Dubai - Core Strength Yoga at Fraser Suites

Have you recently been feeling and complaining about nagging aches and pains in the neck, shoulders, arms, backs or legs? It is time to shift focus to the core muscles (the torso which extends from the base of the neck to the bottom of the spine and includes the abdomen and all the back and hip muscles). Underdeveloped and unbalanced muscle groups in one area of the body could very well mean having a weak core muscle. The core stabilizes and encases the vertebrae surrounding the spinal cord.

The nerves in both your arms and legs function best when you have a strong and stable core. Both the neck and the lower back are dependent on the core muscles to stabilize the spine so that all vertebral segments align with one another in a way that does NOT compress the nerves that pass through them.  When nerves are compressed, they can’t deliver full electrical impulses to muscles. And when that happens,  the muscles can’t work the way they should …weakness and pain are the result.

Yogalates (fusion of core work derived from Pilates and Yoga) enables your skeleton, muscles and joints to work together optimally, because only the core exercises offer the unique combination of strengthening, stretching , balancing and realigning that allows your body to withstand daily wear and tear while complementing your other activities and daily life movements. Plus, you’ll feel FABULOUS walking stronger, taller and more powerful from your deepest core!

Fall in love with your yoga practice and inspire others to do the same. . .

Inquire + Inspire 200 Hour Vinyasa Yoga Training curriculum designed by Santa Barbara based master teacher Erica Blitz, offers you a strong foundation of yoga focusing on the discipline of Vinyasa flow: integrating the movement of the body to the rhythm of the breath to connect to the beauty, strength and grace of your body with a deep understanding of the science of alignment and the life-affirming essence ofAnusara. This in-depth training touches on specialty areas such as how to teach restorative classes, yoga for beginners, prenatal yoga, pranayama, ayurveda, subtle body, and anatomy specific to yoga which leaves you with a strong understanding of these complimentary sister sciences.

The philosophy component of the program mainly focuses on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras through a combination of in-class discussions and homework, exploring the fascinating history of yoga and how to be able to apply concepts pertaining to the origins of yoga as well as its philosophical underpinnings into a class.

Each day, will begin with a 2hr powerful morning practice to engage your body and mind. You will then move through a functional approach to anatomy as it relates to yoga asana afterwards, to inform your understanding of movement, intelligent cues and inventive sequencing. The anatomy lessons will be presented in short segments to support both movement and breath principles with a sense of relevance to yoga asana.

“In this training, I focus on the Iyengar alignment based and the sequencing is an Arch Progression Model. With this information, you will be empowered to create classes in a safe, logical and creative way whether you want to teach a more dynamic Vinyasa class or slow paced. Through the course, we will work on clarifying what inspires you to teach and how to integrate that into your teaching. The first step to deepening your practice is developing strong and intelligent work in some of the basic foundational poses. From there you will learn how to apply these basic techniques into more advanced poses including inversion variations, standing poses, backbends, arm balances hip openers, twists and more. ” – Erica Blitz

Outdoor Yogalates Bliss session by the pool at Fraser Suites Dubai

1) Practicing outside increases your skill and muscles for balance.

When we go through balance postures outdoors, we cannot turn to or rely on a bar, beam, wall to balance. We offer our students to “fix their gaze on a star, sunset or cloud” as we were in a pose, to help them develop their focus. Nothing is stable outside. While in Ardha Chandrasana, (Half Moon Pose) the gaze towards the moon is an amazing experience and really, there are no walls for solidity on the way up. Proprioception is mastered balancing outside, and helps improve your balance back at home.

2) Practicing outside helps develop inner strength and stability.

While often we desire to do our meditation and practice inside in a quiet and controlled “AC” environment, if it’s too cool, we turn the AC off….if it’s too loud, we close the door. Or, we crank up some tunes. None of this is possible outdoors. One learns to “welcome” the breeze and sound of birds while practicing on the terrace and while you might sweat during the hotter months, the external “natural elements” is a great, healthy distraction. But working hard is not determined by the amount of sweat one produces, that is a myth. Working hard is determined by the amount of focus one is able to apply to NOT let anything distract you. It’s quite a feat to gain strength when the outer elements are also part of the practice. When we can “welcome” those natural elements, we become stronger and more stable in all aspects of our life. There is less requiring things to be a certain way and more acceptance for things as they are at this moment.

3) Practicing outdoors aligns you with Nature.

It is just amazing for your skin, your glow, your respiratory system, your stress levels (cortisol) and connecting to the greatest of living things, our planet. For those of us who’ve been on a yoga retreat or simply enjoying the outdoors on holiday, you might never forget the amazing sunsets, surrounding nature, wildlife, gorgeous views of turquoise, green, blue ocean and white sands blending into each other, and the fresh feeling of being reconnected with nature’s finest.

Hence, just some of the reasons why we encourage any yogi to develop a meditation and practice outdoors especially being cooped up indoors the whole day. It is not only a benefit to ourselves, but a means of loving and appreciating our planet. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali explain that perfection in our practice is achieved when we are unaffected by the dualities. And trust us when we say, once you break into a sweat outdoors at Yogalates, it will only feel sweeter and welcoming throughout the session with the breeze cooling you down during savasana, under the stars, by the pool, overlooking the ocean on the horizon, on the 7th floor. Bliss!

Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga Training with Clara Roberts in Dubai, May 8 -11

Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga in Dubai with Clara Roberts

It’s important to realize that “core” and “abs” are not one in the same. The abdominal wall—and its many parts—is only one piece of the core puzzle. Simply put, the core is made up of what we call the inner unit—our deep skeletal muscles that generally work involuntarily in a stabilizing role (for example, internal obliques, transversus abdominus and quadratus lumborum)—and the external spinal flexors (that is rectus abdominus, also known as the “six-pack” muscles and external obliques). Each muscle has a specific job, but they all perform synergistically to achieve the same goal: efficient stabilization of the spine as we move without pain.
